Tigerlily Hill, a remarkable young woman, has made a significant impact on the world stage despite her tender age. With a diverse range of experiences and accomplishments, she serves as an exemplary role model for individuals of all backgrounds.
Hailing from the Caribbean, specifically the Cayman Islands, Hill’s ability to influence the fashion world is a remarkable achievement considering her origins in a small corner of the globe. “Coming from the Caribbean, it’s a dream to showcase my work on such a grand scale,” remarked Hill, expressing her gratitude for presenting her collection at a regional fashion extravaganza.
Raised by a Jamaican mother and a father of British descent, Hill’s upbringing involved frequent travels to various parts of the world. Immersed in different cultures and lifestyles as an island girl, her perspective on life underwent transformative changes, as would be expected.
Eventually, Hill’s parents settled in Iowa, where she initially enrolled at the University of Iowa alongside her brother, Nikola. However, she chose to complete her studies at Richmond, The American International University, in London. Despite spending extended periods abroad, Hill and her family remained deeply connected to the Cayman Islands. Armed with her newfound experiences and knowledge, she returned to her homeland, harnessing her creativity and intellect to fuel her ambitions.
Hill describes her work as a blend of classic and fun styles, striving to ensure that her designs make wearers feel comfortable in any setting. Her target market includes women who seek fashion-forward choices for the workplace as well as those desiring glamorous attire for red carpet events. Motivated by self-determination and a goal-oriented mindset, Hill rose to prominence as a celebrity wardrobe stylist, making her American television debut on the show “Glam God with Vivica A. Fox.”
This experience propelled Hill to further explore her talents, leading her to launch her first clothing line, the Crown Atelier. Her designs gained immense recognition when they were worn by renowned actors such as Keira Knightley, Hilary Duff, Taryn Manning, Carla Gugino, Maria Menounos, Catt Sadler, and Haley Bennett on the red carpet. The attention and exposure she received opened doors to prominent fashion designers and networks, ultimately leading to her involvement with VH1’s fashion series and continued work on “Glam God.”
Recognizing her exceptional creativity and contributions to the arts, the Cayman National Cultural Foundation (CNCF) honored Hill with the prestigious Star for Creativity in the Arts Gold award on February 25, 2016. Additionally, Essence Magazine acknowledged her as one of the designers to watch, further solidifying her reputation. In June 2012, Hill secured the Emerging Designer Award at Caribbean Fashion Week.
